Audiences are invited to explore ocean science like never before during a special livestream hosted by the Texas A&M University Department of Oceanography. The event will take place July 21, at 10 a.m. CT, and will stream live from an active research cruise off the Mississippi River in the Gulf Coast.

Dr. Darren Henrichs will host the livestream from College Station, while Dr. Chrissy Wiederwohl and Dr. Sarah Hu will join live from the research vessel, where they and a team of graduate students and faculty are conducting hands-on science at sea. The livestream will be available on the Texas A&M Oceanography Facebook page.

Viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at life aboard the research ship, meet cruise leader Wiederwohl, Hu and several Texas A&M graduate students and learn about ongoing research aimed at better understanding the ocean. From collecting data to deploying scientific instruments, the livestream will offer a real-time view of science in action.

Dr. Mark Zoran, dean of the Texas A&M College of Arts and Sciences, will also participate in a live Q&A segment with the graduate students, discussing their research, at-sea experience and how classroom knowledge translates into fieldwork.

This livestream offers a rare opportunity to see Texas A&M scientists at work in the field. Viewers are encouraged to tune in live on Facebook and follow Texas A&M Oceanography for updates.
