The Department of Geology and Geophysics is dedicated to the scientific study of all aspects of the solid Earth, from fundamental processes that shape it to knowledge that benefits society. Our graduates make significant contributions in environmental geology, energy solutions and understanding seismic hazards, as well as contributing fundamental new knowledge about the physical, chemical and biological aspects of the Earth. Future Texas A&M University geologists and geophysicists are essential to our economy, our environment and our changing world.

Geology & Geophysics Undergraduate Summer School

This no-cost summer school, running from Aug. 10-16, 2025, offers undergraduate students a hands-on introduction to research in the Department of Geology & Geophysics, with all travel, lodging, and meal expenses covered. Open to 10–15 U.S.-based students who have completed at least one year of college, are in good academic standing, and are not starting graduate school in Fall 2025, the program has no major or coursework prerequisites.
