The curriculum offers a 5-year combined degree program that provides the opportunity for high-performing undergraduate students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics, Economics Emphasis (B.S. APMT-ECO) and Master of Science in Economics. By giving students the opportunity to study both economics and mathematics, they develop a strong understanding of the analytical theory and technical skills necessary to apply logical reasoning to economic modeling and the analysis of financial concerns.
A student completing this program is prepared to enter immediate careers in government, industry, and/or business as a consultant in areas such as finance, business, international trade, and investment. This program also prepares students to enter Ph.D. programs in economics, finance, and other fields with a focus on quantitative analysis.
Enrollment will be open beginning in Fall 2025.
Job Placement
Job placement refers to the successful employment of a person to a job. Our students’ job placement is >90%, and many secure employment before graduation. By showing your capacity to complete a strenuous degree plan in five years, the demand for you as an employee will highly increase. See our Job and Internship Placement for the most current information on where our M.S. Economics students are securing employment.
Tuition and Fees
The Economics Department Charges Master's students a $5,000 program fee per long semester, or fall and spring. Fastrack 3+2 students will be charged for their first two long semesters, Fall and Spring only, after they have completed their undergraduate curriculum and are reclassified as degree-seeking Master's students. This program fee is in addition to their regular tuition and other university fees. The program fee is used to provide additional academic support and professional development for the Master's students.
