The Texas A&M University Department of Economics hosted its annual Spring Career Night, presented by Merit Advisors, on February 5. Undergraduate and graduate economics students were able to network with industry professionals and recruiters across industries, highlighting the diverse career paths open to economics majors.
Attending companies included notable names such as:
- Merit Advisors
- American Airlines
- BDO
- Berkeley Research Group
- Capital Farm Credit
- Charles River Associates
- Deloitte
- Gartner
- Matador
- Northwestern Mutual

- TAMES, WIE, Pre-Law Advising and the Business Analytics Consulting Association student groups.
The department’s Career Night is a signature event designed to facilitate connections between companies and students and create opportunities for collaboration and impact.

“It’s been incredible to see the Texas A&M Econ Career Fair grow year after year, bringing together such a talented and driven group of students. Their curiosity, ambition, preparedness, and eagerness to learn make every conversation exciting and impactful. We love participating because it allows us to connect with future industry leaders, share insights about our work, and introduce them to the rewarding careers at Merit Advisors. My favorite part? Seeing students light up when they realize the real-world impact they can have in this field—it’s a full-circle moment that makes being back on campus so special,” said Kennedy McGill ’21, a talent acquisition specialist at Merit Advisors.
Likewise, students know that the representatives with whom they meet recognize the unique skills and expertise that economics majors from Texas A&M offer.
“Econ Career Night continues to be a gem for our students and for the Department of Economics,” said Dr. Dennis Jansen, professor and department head. “This every-semester event, spearheaded by Paula Verdegaal with assistance from Kurt Felpel, continues to grow in size measured either by student attendance or by the number of employers that participate. We’re proud of Paula and her great work on behalf of our students and our department.”
Details about Economics' Fall 2025 Career Night will be announced soon. Companies interested in participating are advised to contact Paula Verdegaal directly at paulav@tamu.edu.
