This combined program enables motivated students to efficiently complete both the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and the non-thesis Master of Arts in Philosophy degrees in five years.
Taking one more year to earn a master’s degree will enable you to pursue more demanding and creative philosophical projects while exploring your career options.
If you are interested in this program, you should apply in the first semester of you junior year so you can begin graduate work in your senior year. You should work closely with your academic advisor to ensure a smooth transition.
Program Benefits
This program increases your opportunities to learn and grow at Texas A&M. By allowing students additional time to pursue more advanced classes, they have increased opportunities to take advantage of the rich options our department has to offer.
This is a great choice for the many students who come to Texas A&M with credit by examination, dual credit, and community college credit. These students would typically graduate in just two or three years and can use the extra year this program provides to:
- Become involved in student organizations
- Take on leadership positions in the university
- Pursue career path-altering internships
- Participate in our study abroad programs
- Collaborate with faculty and graduate students in research projects
- Compete for fellowships and admission into other Texas A&M programs
- Cultivate strong mentor relationships with faculty members
This program is also a valuable option if you are considering getting a doctoral degree in philosophy or related fields.
