Physics and Astronomy Department Orientation
The Department of Physics and Astronomy hosts an orientation for all domestic and international incoming graduate students. The event is generally held a week or two before classes begin. You will receive an email from our admissions coordinator with the time and location of the orientation.
During Orientation Week you will attend your:
1. Advising Appointment
You will be contacted by your academic advisor for your advising appointment and register for classes. Once registered, you will be able to obtain your Aggie Card and set up your payroll preferences, etc.
Once registered, you will be able to obtain your TAMU student ID card, set up your payroll preferences, etc.
2. TA Training
All students’ domestic and international, regardless of their type of funding, are required by the Department of Physics and Astronomy to complete TA Institute and Teaching Assistant training. You will receive an email from the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and our admissions coordinator with details. TA Training and TA Institute are University requirements and you must be present for both sessions to earn credit.
*All international students must complete their Check-in with International Student Services once they arrive in the US. This can be done online if the student prefers.
