Message from the Chair
Welcome to the homepage of the Texas A&M Local Section of the American Chemical Society!
Whether you are a student, researcher, or seasoned professional, I invite you to join us in the promotion of professional development, networking, and research excellence across the chemical sciences.
The Texas A&M Local Section supports a variety of community outreach activities, including the Chemistry Open House and Science Exploratorium, and is responsible for selecting the National Chemistry Olympiad contestants and ACS Scholarships and Awards winners.
We also assist with the logistics of the Department’s two prestigious medals:
- The F. A. Cotton Medal for Excellence Chemical Research, which recognizes accomplishments in research rather than distinction of any other sort, no matter how meritorious. The award is not restricted by gender, country, or branch of chemistry. A symposium is organized in the spring to recognize the medalist.
- The A. I. Scott Medal for Excellence in Biological Chemistry Research , which recognizes researchers for distinguished achievement at the highest level. A symposium is organized in the fall to recognize the medalist.
Sincerely,
Justine N. deGruyter
