Biography

Justin Lake received his PhD in Medieval Latin Philology from Harvard in 2008. He specializes in Medieval Latin literature (particularly the historical literature of the Early and High Middle Ages), medieval rhetoric and grammar, and classical reception in the Middle Ages.

Current Research Projects

My research focuses on historiography in the Latin West from the seventh through the thirteenth centuries. Current projects include a monograph about stylistic criticism in Latin prose in the Early and High Middle Ages, a new translation of Anselm of Besate’s Rhetorimachia, and an article about style and audience in twelfth-century English historiography.
