The Creative Media Lab (CML) is a facilitative space within the Department of Communication and Journalism. The CML provides students with a physical maker space and creative community to grow and experiment in the areas of media studies, production, and journalism. The CML also works to grow and facilitate student entrepreneurial initiatives, multimodal academic conferences, and multi-departmental cross-collaborative experiences with faculty throughout the university.

CML is physically located in room 113 on the first floor of Bolton Hall.

Student Podcasting Initiative
Since Fall 2023, the CML has provided a physical audio/video podcast streaming space in BLTN 010 and facilitated students’ development of their own livestreams and shows.
AI Exploration Initiative
Beginning in the Summer of 2024, the CML ventured further into the world of artificial intelligence and is planning specified workshops and programming for Fall 2024.
Lone Star Showdown Rivalry Podcast
In the Spring of 2024, the CML began collaborating with The Dragat UT-Austin to produce a podcast centered around the return of the Texas A&M-Texas athletic rivalry. The planning process is ongoing through the summer with the podcast’s debut planned for Fall 2024.

- Professional in-field audio recording equipment including lavalier microphones and shotgun microphones
- Mobile Rodecast podcasting setup with 4 dynamic microphones for interviews
- PC gaming setup in BLTN 113
- PS4 and XBOX One and Series S gaming setups in BLTN 113
- Professional dedicated audio/video streaming podcast studio in BLTN 010
- Professional video editing software and computer setup in BLTN 113
- Professional audio production software and computer setup in BLTN 113
