Contacting the Advising Team
Email us at econadvising@tamu.edu – we are always available by email and reply quickly!
- You are required to use your OFFICIAL Texas A&M email when corresponding with advisors/professors.
- Emails must include student first and last names and UIN
- Students should allow 24 – 48 hours, weekends and holidays not included, before following up on any email.
- Missed emails are not considered a legitimate reason for deadline extensions.
Registration Reminders
Please use Aggie Schedule Builder to confirm your eligibility to enroll in every preferred course
- Economics Advisors will not force force students into courses
- At time of registration, the courses in your shopping cart must reflect that:
- You meet all listed prerequisites
- Prerequisites are enforced. The Department of Economics does not enter prerequisite overrides for planned or in-progress prerequisites from other institutions. Once you have completed the prerequisite course with the required grade, you may send an unofficial transcript that clearly shows your name, the institution, course, and final grade to econadvising@tamu.edu from your TAMU email account. The email must include your first name, last name and UIN and indicate the Economics course you are seeking a prerequisite override for. We will enter the prerequisite override but will not force students into closed sections.
- You meet all listed restrictions
- Seats are available – if the course is full, then it is full
- All seats in Economics and Econometrics courses have been released to fire code capacity. Economics Advisors will not force/push/squeeze [whatever synonym you come up with] you into any course that shows it is full.
- You meet all listed prerequisites
- Economics does not utilize a waitlist
Economics Minors: Seats in popular Economics upper-level electives are initially prioritized for Economics Majors. Should seats remain during open registration, the restrictions may be lifted but it is not a guarantee. Use Aggie Schedule Builder to find Economics courses without the Economics major restriction, there are several. Economics Advisors will not force non-Economics students into major-restricted courses.
