This combined program enables students to efficiently complete both the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English and the Master of Arts in English degrees in five years.
This program slightly modifies the undergraduate degree requirements to include more courses on theory and method. These courses are intended to prepare students for the more rigorous masters-level coursework.
At the completion of the program, you will be well-prepared to apply for:
- Doctoral programs in English and related humanities
- Positions teaching composition
- Editorial and other writing-centered employment
Five-Year Program: Bachelor of Arts in English + Master of Arts in English Program Requirements
Applying to the Program
You will need to submit your application to the combined program in the fall of your junior year. If you are admitted to the program, you will begin taking masters-level courses in the fall of your senior year with an undergraduate classification.
- The application is available online here. Applications for this program are NOT submitted through the CAS application system. Applications are due February 28, 2025
- Faculty recommenders will submit their letters directly to the Director of Graduate Studies (Dr. DiCaglio, jdicaglio@tamu.edu; cc Erica Chollett, erica.chollett@tamu.edu). Students should inform faculty well in advance of submission. It is recommended that at least one or both of the faculty recommenders are graduate faculty, so that they can speak to the student's ability to do graduate research.
