• Visit the Admissions Office website to determine your eligibility for an application fee waiver. Some universities also offer a GRE Fee Reduction to eligible students and alums.

There are no GPA cutoff scores. There are no specific prerequisite degrees or coursework required. However, coursework in I-O psychology, psychological research methods and statistics, psychological testing & measurement, organizational behavior, and human resource management are strongly recommended.

Your unofficial transcripts should be up-to-date and include fall 2024 grades, if you are still pursuing your degree. Please do not send your official transcripts directly to Admissions office until after you have been admitted. Once you have been admitted, your transcripts must be mailed directly from your institution to the TAMU Office of Admissions at the address below. Do NOT mail official transcripts to the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.

Texas A&M will also accept electronic transcripts through PARCHMENT, SPEEDE, eScrip-SAFE or National Clearing House. Transcripts from other vendors will not be accepted. Please send electronic transcripts to admissions@tamu.edu. If you completed your degree at Texas A&M University, you do not need to submit an official transcript from the University.

Applicants must submit official scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for admission. We do not have a minimum GRE cut-score and do not require the GRE Psychology Subject test. Official GRE Scores should be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to Texas A&M University and be from a test date within five years of the date the application form reached the Office of Admissions. Given that it takes 10-15 days after your exam date for official scores to reach the institution, please plan to schedule your exam date accordingly. GRE Waiver Application:  We strongly recommend that all applicants  complete the GRE regardless of waiver eligibility. Applicants who have two (2) or more years of full-time post-baccalaureate professional work experience may be eligible for a GRE waiver. Relevant practical experience in the form of military experience, etc., may also be considered. In addition to credible employment, such applicants must also have strong academic records and demonstrated quantitative skills. Those interested in requesting a GRE waiver should email the Program Director (bisi.atoba@tamu.edu), attaching their Resume/CV, to indicate their interest and subsequently submit the MS PSYS (I-O) GRE Waiver Application Form. Please note that GRE waiver application will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who are approved for the GRE waiver are ineligible for the merit-based MSIOP competitive scholarship. The Application Form and supporting documents must be received by January 31st (or January 15th for international applicants).

The statement of purpose (also known as a “personal statement”) must address the following:

1. Your interest in I-O psychology.
2. Your reasons for applying to the MS Psychological Sciences (Concentration in I-O Psychology) program at Texas A&M University.
3. Your post-graduation career plans.

Optional: Other aspects of your background and interests that could help the admissions committee evaluate your potential for graduate study.

The statement of purpose should be no more than 750 words. Upload your statement of purpose within the GraduateCAS online application.

Please upload your well-formatted resume/CV into the GraduateCAS system. The program has no page limitations for the resume/CV document. Your resume/CV should highlight skills and accomplishments relevant to the pursuit of the MS Psychological Sciences (Concentration in I-O Psychology) degree. These should include, but not limited to:

• Relevant coursework
• Relevant minors/concentrations/certifications
• Work experience
• Research experience, presentations, and/or publications
• Statistical skills/applications/software
• Leadership/extracurricular activities

Resume/CV information accuracy is important to the program and an applicant who misrepresents or provides untrue information on this document will be disqualified or dismissed if admitted to the program.

The GraduateCAS online application includes a Recommendations section where you must add your recommenders’ information. Once you have saved the recommendation requests, GraduateCAS will contact each recommender via email to request the completion of the recommendation form and letter of recommendation.

We require two letters of recommendation from academic and professional sources who are able to report on your academic and professional qualifications based on recent observations of your performance. Recommendations from personal (e.g., friends, family members, and acquaintances) and bogus sources are not acceptable. Recommenders should highlight observed applicant's competencies (e.g., knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics) within the context of completed tasks/projects/duties.

The letters must be submitted directly by recommenders through the electronic system. A recommender having trouble receiving the email can whitelist tamusupport@liaisoncas.com (i.e., add to safe senders list) and/or reach out to customer service for the link to the letters portal.

English Language Proficiency: Official TOEFL or IELTS Academic test scores are required by the university for all applicants whose first language is not English. Unless you have a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution located in the U.S., you are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. This can be waived if your GRE verbal score is 146 or higher or applicants from your country are exempt from the English proficiency requirement for admission. Also review the International Graduate section of the Admissions website to learn about additional alternatives to demonstrating English proficiency. TOEFL scores should be sent directly from the testing service, and must be from a test date within two years of the date of your application. IELTS scores should also be submitted electronically to Texas A&M University (College Station) by the IELTS test center.

Degree Equivalency: If you are an international graduate applicant please view a brief List of Bachelor Degree Equivalencies by Country. If you do not find your country listed and are unsure of your degree equivalency, please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@tamu.edu. Applicants who do not possess a degree considered to be equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree or higher will be denied admission.

Note to Applicants from India: A four-year Bachelor’s degree is required to be eligible for graduate school admission at Texas A&M University. For applicants with a three-year Bachelor’s degree, please note that a Master’s degree or Post-Graduate Diploma is also required to be eligible for graduate school admission at Texas A&M University.

Each applicant who passes the initial screening for admission will be invited for a structured virtual interview. The applicant will respond to a minimum of four questions that assess core competencies needed to be successful in the MSIOP program. The interview also affords the selection committee an opportunity to get to know each candidate a little more as they gain insight into that which cannot be deduced from a written application.

Purpose: The program offers a limited number of merit- and need-based scholarships each year. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist with the tuition and fees associated with graduate study. A minimum of $500 will be deposited in awardee’s account in both fall and spring terms (for a total of $1000). The scholarship also qualifies successful non-resident/international applicants for the in-state (resident) tuition rate.

Eligibility: All admitted MS Psychological Sciences (concentration in I/O psychology) students who indicated scholarship interest on their application for admission and who do not have tuition assistance, a graduate assistantship with tuition waiver benefits, or fellowship automatically receive consideration for the scholarship. Texas residents, out-of-state applicants, and international applicants are eligible. Final awarding of scholarships will be limited to students who do not have tuition assistance, a graduate assistantship with tuition waiver benefits, or fellowship.

Selection: Admitted students are considered based on the strength of their application packages and their financial need (domestic applicants must have applied for 2024-2025 FAFSA or TASFA to be considered for this scholarship). Scholarship renewal for second year students is not guaranteed but we will make every effort to honor the scholarship if the student demonstrates academic excellence (with a semester GPA of 3.8 or higher) and embodies the University’s leadership and selfless service core values through service to fellow students and the MS program. The scholarship will not renew for a second year student with a graduate assistantship that starts or continues in the second year.

Application: All admitted students who indicated scholarship interest on their application for admission are automatically considered for the scholarship and do not need to apply for it.

This fellowship is supported by the Texas A&M Graduate and Professional Studies and  seeks to increase diversity in the graduate and professional student population at Texas A&M and support the development of high achieving students who show promise of distinguished careers. Eligible nominees are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are from a disadvantaged background and have a superior academic record. The admissions committee members nominate strong applicants and the fellowship committee makes the final selection from a pool of University applicants.  Applicants who wish to be considered must have a complete application on file by January 14th and upload a completed version of the interest form  within their application. Please do not ask to be nominated for this fellowship as the program makes this determination internally.

The Program or Department does not offer graduate assistantships or fellowships to master’s students at this time. Employment within the Department and any benefits associated with employment are not available to master’s students. MSIOP students typically pursue graduate assistantships (some include tuition waivers and health insurance coverage) in other departments, centers, and/or research institutes that advertise by applying through JobsforAggies .

Students are strongly encouraged to make their academic pursuits their primary concern due to the challenging and demanding nature of the MSIOP course requirements. If it is necessary that you work during the school year either to acquire the experience or to make ends meet, you should minimize work obligations during the first year of graduate study and should not work more than 20 hours per week while in the program. It is recommended that you select employment that is not too stressful or mentally taxing and that allows for the completion of homework during working hours. Students may consider applying for loans and grants through the Scholarships & Financial Aid Office and other independent organizations. The Texas Aggie Graduate Grant and Texas Public Education Grant are two grants that are frequently awarded to eligible MSIOP students. To be considered for federal aid, U.S. citizens and permanent residents need to submit the FAFSA form, Texas residents who are non U.S. citizens should complete a TASFA form, and international students should complete an ISFAA form. In addition, staff and faculty seeking the masters may qualify for the Employee Tuition Assistance Program.
